Sculptor's speech delivers a humanistic spirit

Artist and director of the National Art Museum of China Wu Weishan gave a speech about his art and Chinese culture at the National Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, ending to his solo exhibition at the venue.

Wu explained how he began an ongoing project to sculpt historic and cultural figures in Chinese history. A selection of his works was shown at Sculpting the Spirit of Chinese Culture, which closed at the center on Sunday.

In his creations, Wu tries to portray the inside world of prominent figures and translate their humanistic spirit into a modern context.
