Jiangmen Railway Station opens in S China
The station includes eight platforms and 20 tracks and is designed to handle more than 71,500 passengers a day. It helps link Jiangmen, a major production base in western Guangdong, to the country's advanced high-speed and inter-city railway networks.
Wu Yong, chairman of China Railway Guangzhou Group, said Jiangmen Railway Station is an important part of the transportation hubs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area.
"Jiangmen Railway Station is also a major livelihood project in Guangdong, to which the provincial government attaches great importance," Wu said.
Lin Yingwu, Party chief of Jiangmen, said the operation of the new railway station will help build Jiangmen into one of the major transportation hubs in the western part of Guangdong province and play a significant role in Jiangmen's economic development in the years ahead.
