China's Xinjiang deploys robot to inspect underground power network

URUMQI -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has deployed an inspection robot in a local substation to monitor and examine its underground power network.

The robot was deployed in a substation in Urumqi, the regional capital on Friday.

Moving along a track and equipped with a high-definition camera and an infrared camera, the robot is able to send real-time footage of the power network to inspection staff, according to Zhou Shuqiang with the State Grid's Urumqi power supply company.
