Guizhou children learn opera tradition

Tianping Primary School in Qianxi county of Guizhou province has introduced Wenqin Opera into campus classrooms as a way of preserving traditional culture.

The school organized activities and invited inheritors of Wenqin Opera to help students learn about the origin and development of the opera and to experience its charm.

Wenqin Opera is popular among residents in Guizhou. It was listed as an intangible cultural heritage in the province in 2007. The first Wenqin Opera troupe was established in Qianxi in 1956.
