Beijing welcomes Washington to return to the World Health Organization and the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change, and China is willing to strengthen cooperation the United States and other countries, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
US President Joe Biden has signed executive orders to rejoin the Paris agreement and stop the country's departure from the WHO.
China always advocates for all countries to actively support the work of the WHO and jointly safeguard international public health security, especially when the coronavirus is still rampant around the globe, ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a daily news conference.
"We welcome the US to re-engage with the WHO and also hope to work with the US and other parties to strengthen cooperation," she said.
Hua also said China hopes to join hands with Washington and the international community to promote the effective implementation of the Paris agreement and build a mutually beneficial and fair global governance system for climate change to boost green development and recovery.
She said China expects the US to make positive contributions to dealing with climate change.
