China and India agreed to take effective action to restrain front-line troops at their common border, stabilize and control the situation along the Line of Actual Control in the Western Sector of the China-India border, and jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the region, according to a statement by the Chinese Ministry of National Defense on Monday.

On Sunday, military officials from both sides held their ninth round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting on the Chinese side of the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point.

The ministry said the two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on troop disengagement along the Line of Actual Control.

"The two sides agreed that this round of meeting was positive, practical and constructive, which further enhanced mutual trust and understanding," the ministry said.

Both sides agreed to push for an early disengagement of the front-line troops and maintain dialogue and negotiation, such as holding the 10th round of the Corps Commander Level Meeting as soon as possible to jointly facilitate de-escalation.
