"How to help residents maintain healthy eating habits is a major challenge we face when a neighborhood with over 900 people, most of whom are elderly, is locked down," said Ru Lei, deputy director of the sub-district committee at East Nanjing Road where Guixi neighborhood is located.

The truck by local food company Bright Food Group offers five hot meal sets and 11 heat-and-eat frozen products, all of which are sold at affordable prices. The company has also provided a 20 percent discount on certain products. Basic cooking ingredients, such as rice, noodles and oil, are available as well.

Residents can place their orders online or inform volunteers of their needs, according to Lin Chen, who is in charge of the breakfast service.
