The Proposal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference made strides in their proposal work last year, Li Zhiyong, head of the committee, said on Tuesday.
Li said during a news conference in Beijing that proposals are one of the CPPCC's most important duties, and one of the highlights of last year's proposal work was that committee members paid more attention to improving their skills.
The committee compiled several readings last year, including 70 Years of CPPCC Proposal Work and Stories of 100 Influential Proposals, which summarized the development of proposals as well as its previous experiences in handling them, providing innovative and concrete ideas for future proposal work, Li said.
The committee also strove to improve their services and enhance their work quality, he said.
As the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world last year, the committee responded to epidemic control actively, took relevant initiative and gave green lights to proposals related to special, urgent and important matters, according to Li.
Proposals on epidemic control and prevention as well as those that were time-sensitive were sent to responsible departments in a timely manner to ensure they could be considered quickly and effectively, Li said, adding that the committee also established a mobile application to facilitate its work.
Li also noted that the committee actively promoted a consultation platform, and it has revised methods for selecting and supervising key proposals, established a working mechanism for regular visits to democratic parties and strengthened communication with other governmental departments in a bid to improve the quality of proposal processing and to promote mutual consensus.
