The love story unfolds in the festival every year 18 days before the beginning of summer. This year, men and women wore traditional Dong clothing, and a theatrical performance was staged to present the old story. Dong reed-pipe wind instruments accompanied the play.

In 2006, the Dawuliang Singing Festival was listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage. Over the years, it has gradually became one of the most popular traditional festivals for young men and women of the ethnic minority.
