'Thucydides Trap' coiner: China, US need Olympic spirit

Graham Allison, a professor at Harvard University and creator of the "Thucydides Trap", compared the Sino-US relationship with the Olympic spirit that strives for the "first place". Meanwhile, China and the US must cooperate over climate and other issues. The two countries have to avoid full confrontation as that is dangerous for the whole world, said Allison.

Wang Huiyao, president of Center for China and Globalization, agreed that China and the US need the Olympic spirit of peaceful competition to avoid mutual recriminations and achieve win-win results.
