Physical education of Shanghai students evaluated
The average score of Shanghai students' physical education is 80.2 out of 100, according to a report released on June 5 by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission at Shanghai University of Sport.
The report, which introduces and analyzes the physical education of students in Shanghai in 2020, is based on a sports test and research of 417,336 students from 1,234 primary, middle, and high schools in 16 districts.
The five assessed factors are sports awareness, sports knowledge, sports behavior, sports skills and physical health. Shanghai students performed the best in sports awareness with an average score of 92.1. The lowest average score of 72.6 was for sports skills.
The report pointed out that the average score for female students was 81.5, which was slightly higher than the 78.9 for the male students.
According to the report, the overall physical education score showed an upward trend with the increase in learning period, while high school students had the highest scores, followed by the middle and primary school students.
According to Wang Ping, director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the release of the scores will help determine the quality of sports in Shanghai and aid with the implementation of practical measures.
In the future, the commission will further strengthen the modern evaluation of students' basic sports skills through intelligent equipment and advanced technologies and objectively reflect their physical education level.
