XCMG delivers 200,000 excavators in 13 years

XCMG Excavator Machinery Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Chinese construction machinery manufacturer Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group, delivered its 200,000th excavator, an XE380DK hydraulic excavator, in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, on Sept 16.

This means that XCMG has manufactured 200,000 excavators within the shortest time in the world.

In early 1990s, foreign excavator manufacturers started tapping into the Chinese market and domestic excavator manufacturers only occupied 2 percent of the market in China.

A strong country cannot do without a strong manufacturing industry while excavating machinery is reputed as the "pearl in the crown of construction machinery". In 2008, XCMG Excavator Machinery was established with the aim of becoming a top excavator manufacturer in the country with international influence.

The excavator manufacturer has built the largest 700-ton hydraulic excavator in China. This has made China the fourth country in the world capable of manufacturing super tonnage hydraulic excavators following Germany, Japan and the United States.

"Internationalization is the main strategy of XCMG," noted XCMG Chairman Wang Min. "All the other strategies involving technology, talents, innovation, market and management should serve the main strategy."

Currently, XCMG Excavator Machinery operates more than 20 overseas subsidiaries and has built four overseas manufacturing bases in the US, Brazil, India and Uzbekistan. Its businesses are available in more than 160 countries and regions.

The overseas sales of XCMG's excavators have experienced the fastest increase in China over the past five years. In July this year, its exports soared 152 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the country.

At the ceremony, XCMG Excavator Machinery also unveiled its latest products, the XE 600/690DK MAX, and inked purchase contracts for 100 600,000-ton excavators with eight companies.
