An adult proboscis monkey's nose can grow to 10 centimeters in length. The larger the nose, the easier it is to win favor from the opposite sex, as enlargement of the nasal cavity changes vocal characteristics.

Proboscis monkeys, which are great swimmers, live mainly in Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia and eat fruit, leaves, flowers, seeds and some insects.

Chimelong Safari Park imported the monkeys from Indonesia in September 2017. Six babies have been born in the park in the past four years.

To protect and breed the rare species, the park established a primate research center dedicated to conservation worldwide.
