Guangdong highlighted at Dubai expo

A number of trade and cultural events will be staged during the upcoming Guangdong Week of China Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai between Jan 11 and 13.

The expo is running between Oct 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022 after being placed on hold in 2020 because of the pandemic.

The opening ceremony of Guangdong Week will be held both online and offline on Jan 11, Lin Ji, deputy secretary-general of the Guangdong provincial government, said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Offline events at the China Pavilion in Dubai will include a science and technology innovation interactive exhibition, an intangible cultural heritage show, a cheongsam show and a Guangdong photo exhibition.

Events held both online and offline will include the GBA (Guangdong)-UAE Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, Guangdong Geographical Indications International Cooperative Conference and the Seminar on Cross-Border E-commerce in Global Emerging Markets.

A WeChat mini program will be launched to allow the audience to view the events live online, said Cui Shuang, deputy vice-president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee.
