The World Trade Organization has issued a decision on China's countermeasures against the United States countervailing duties (CVD) on certain Chinese products , ruling that China could retaliate with duties on $645 million worth of US imports per year for its failure to comply with a WTO ruling, according to the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.
The outcome of this case is of great significance for correcting the US's illegal countervailing practices, safeguarding the legitimate trade interests of Chinese enterprises and defending the multilateral trading system, said the ministry.
This is the second time that China has won in trade retaliation against the US at the WTO. China was authorized the right to retaliatory tariffs of $3.58 billion annually against the US imports in a WTO dispute over anti-dumping measures in 2019.
China urges the US side to stop looking for any excuses and take immediate actions to correct its wrongdoings in the trade remedy investigation against China, the ministry added.
