Beijing takes action against six lab employees

Beijing police have taken criminal coercive measures against six people related to the Beijing Pushi Medical Laboratory Co whose business licenses got revoked due to the action of its employees related to its nucleic acid tests service during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in the capital, senior official said at a news conference on Saturday.

According to the government website of Beijing's Fangshan district where the company is located, the local health commission has revoked the license of the lab due to the fact that the number of samples tested by the lab was obviously smaller than the number of samples collected.

Pan Xuhong, spokesman for Beijing's public security bureau, said the bureau has filed a case for obstructing the prevention and control of infectious diseases.

"The six accused include the controller of the lab surnamed Zhou (male, 38) and the legal representative surnamed Wu (male, 37)," he said. "The case is under investigation."

The city's market supervision department has also filed a case against the lab for investigation.

The police bureau revealed several other cases involving the crime of obstructing the prevention and control of infectious diseases, including people who fabricated their routes in lockdown zones on purpose and stayed in hotels outside of the lockdown area, resulting in at least 21 spots to be locked down and nearly 900 people to be in centralized quarantined afterwards.
