MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Brazilian counterpart, Jair Bolsonaro, discussed global food security challenges and bilateral cooperation in agriculture and energy, during a telephone call on Monday.

Food security issues were discussed in detail, and the Russian president emphasized the importance of restoring the free trade of foodstuff and fertilizers, previously disrupted by Western sanctions, the Kremlin said.

Putin confirmed Russia's commitment to fulfilling its obligations aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted supply of Russian fertilizers to Brazilian farmers.

The two leaders also agreed on the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and Brazil, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in a range of fields, said the Kremlin.
