A symposium was held to discuss how entrepreneurs can better participate in the country's rural vitalization movement and how an enterprise practices and preaches its corporate social responsibility in Beijing's Song Art Museum on Monday.

Liu Wenkui, deputy director of the China Foundation for Rural Development, said that there are three levels in an enterprise's practice of its social responsibility. The first is treating its employees with kindness. Second, methods such as making a donation and founding a foundation can be adopted by the enterprise to give back to society. Third, the enterprise can make innovative charity efforts to run social businesses to help solve problems.

The symposium was held by Delong Steel Group, one of the leading steel material manufacturers and suppliers in China, at the release event of its corporate social responsibility report which concludes its achievement in fields including environmental protection, rural vitalization, international cooperation and the tourism development of its industrial zones over the past two years.

Ding Liguo, chairman of Delong, said that though it's a challenge for a steel plant to conduct environmental protection measures, the company is making continuous endeavors to use eco-friendly technologies and devices to upgrade the whole process of steel production. Energy-saving technologies have been widely used to decrease the consumption of electricity, water, coal gas and other resources during production as much as possible.

Additionally, the company, which has entered the latest Fortune Global 500 list, has been actively helping the industrial development of towns and villages across the country.

For instance, a donation of 40 million yuan ($5.93 million) was made by the company to supply high-quality seedlings, set up water conservancy facilities and offer professional instructions for the pepper cultivation bases in several towns in Hebei province.
