As people return to its campus after it was hit by COVID-19 infections earlier this month, Hebei Normal University released a letter of thanks on its website on Friday to express its gratitude to local governments and organizations that have helped them fight the disease.

Located in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, the university recorded infections starting on Nov 5 and transferred all of its teachers and students to local quarantine centers so that the campus could be thoroughly disinfected.

Accommodations for the transferred groups have been provided, including by hotels and makeshift hospitals.

Starting on Monday, people at the school that meet health standards have started returning to the campus. According to its website, as of noon of Tuesday about 1,500 students and teachers had come back.

Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei, continues to report local COVID-19 infections in a new outbreak that started last month and has seen a surge in cases since Nov 11.

The city recorded two local confirmed cases and 253 asymptomatic carriers on Thursday, according to its health commission on Friday.
