Beijing transport will not reject passengers without 48hr test results

Starting on Monday, Beijing's public transportation including buses and subways should not reject passengers who are not holding the negative results of nucleic acid tests taken within 48 hours, according to the municipal government's announcement on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, drivers of delivery trucks for daily goods, especially agricultural produce transported to Beijing, can take the related tests on site at 13 of the expressways that enter the city. The expressway officers will not reject their entering with the cause of waiting for the test results.

Beijing's top epidemic control and prevention work group has been carrying out measures to better serve the public during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in recent days.

On Thursday, the city released new measures to ensure certain groups continue to enjoy smooth medical services that hospitals at all levels in Beijing shall not reject patients who don't have negative results of nucleic acid tests taken within 48 hours.

Between midnight and 3 pm on Friday, Beijing reported 1,738 new infections, among whom 1,390 are asymptomatic carriers, according to the city government.

Of those infections, 1,615 were found in those under quarantine and the remaining 123 were detected at the community level.
