For this exhibition, the artists had set out to document the changes in Shanghai since the mid-1800s, when the city first became an open harbor. On exhibition are paintings that show Zhaojiabang Creek, an old slum that eventually made way for the construction of today's Zhaojiabang Road, a collective portrait of leading artists in Shanghai in the early 1900s who laid the foundation for the modern Chinese arts scene, as well as festival celebrations and milestone events such as the World Expo that was held in Shanghai in 2010.
