Russian students experience Chinese culture
Around 20 college students from Russia visited an intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall in the Xinhua district of Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, on Thursday, showing great interest in such things as traditional clothing and restoring ancient weapons.
The hall, with an area of more than 1,000 square meters, is a showcase for around 100 exhibits from the hands of 19 representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage in the district.
The heritages involve 17 fields, including weaving, pyrography and relief carving.
In addition to seeing the heritage examples, the students also got some hands-on experience making clothes and repairing old weapons.
"The exhibition hall is not only a place for displaying cultural heritage but also a wonderland for visitors to experience such skills under the guidance of inheritors," said Sun Qianrui, head of the district's cultural center.
The Russian students came away with a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture after having some practical experience, she said.
