Envoy calls for closer China-India ties at ceremony for 74th National Day
More than 700 people attended the embassy event, including Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of India's Ministry of External Affairs Gourangalal Das.
Other attendees included representatives from the Indian government, parliament, political parties, think tanks, media, enterprises, and friendship organizations.
Envoys and diplomats from various countries to India, employees of Chinese enterprises, international students, and overseas Chinese also took part in the event.
Diplomats of the embassy and members of the Indian literary and artistic circles played the Hindustani classical song Raga Maru Bihag and the Chinese song Jasmine on piano, sitar, and tabla drums. Representatives of the embassy performed choruses and Indian students performed traditional Chinese martial arts, which won cheers and applause from the guests.
The guests from India discussed friendship and cooperation, sincerely congratulated the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and expressed their willingness to work with China to seize growth opportunities and make more efforts and contributions to China-India friendship.
