Victoria Arowolo from Nigeria has taught Mandarin at the Confucius Institute in Lagos for a decade. Her journey began two decades ago, when learning Chinese was a formidable task for her.

Her lifelong dream was to become a teacher. Learning Mandarin transformed her life, opening new horizons and cementing her teaching dream, Arowolo said.

In Nigeria, job opportunities are scarce for young graduates, making Arowolo's teaching a rare success story. Arowolo said she is content and grateful for using her knowledge to uplift her community and improve her family's life.
