Although Deng Kun is not devoted to the creation of Chinese painting, his works present the same poetic, serene mood sought after by ancient intellectuals when working with ink and paper.

In his paintings mixed with various materials, he revisits motifs such as bamboo forest, wild field and rock mountain, recurring in classic art to convey the similar appeal of being reserved and elegant created by the use of ink and brush. He delivers loneliness and symbolism as a way to compare the mentalities of modern people and those in ancient times.

Deng is showing dozens of his works made in the recent decade at the White Space in Zero 799 Art Zone in Pingxiang, Jiangxi province, which was once a machinery plant but now a cultural hub of artists and designers. The show is running until Dec 26.
