The airport recently resumed direct flights to Washington and Boston in the US, and added more flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco. More flights to North America are expected in the future.

A new visa-free entry policy, which offers citizens from countries including France and Germany visa-free travel to China for up to 15 days, is expected to boost passenger numbers between European airports and Beijing Capital.

Airport management said Beijing Capital will work with Air China, Hainan Airlines and other airlines next year to open more international routes to destinations such as Dhaka, Riyadh, Edinburgh and Hanoi.

On Thursday, the airport held a promotion activity with the theme "Hello World" that sent invitations to prospective passengers around the world.

Before the pandemic, Beijing Capital was the busiest airport in China. It handled more than 100 million passenger trips in 2018 and again in 2019.
