A night market selling popular items, including popular snacks, folk craftsmen's intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, sugar paintings, "ice-sugar gourd" (tanghulu), shadow puppetry, and zodiac lanterns, opened in "laochengxiang", the oldest residential area in Shanghai's Huangpu district on Jan 21.

As a part of the Yuyuan Garden Lantern Show, the night market with colored lights and decorations of the surrounding historic buildings has become the most popular place for people to visit during the Spring Festival holiday in the city.
