"Wuhanren took their card and tapped and paid for my fare." said Steve Carpenter, who initially planned to stay in China for just three years before coming back to the US, has been captivated by the hospitality of the country and decided to stay longer. Now, he has been in China with his family for 20 years and has witnessed firsthand China's progress over the years.

Thanks to China's reform and opening-up, Carpenter believes today's various domestic consumption markets offer more opportunities to foreign companies. He also hails the significant influence of the Belt and Road Initiative, recognizing the necessity for his company to engage with it.

Now residing in Wuhan, an important transportation hub and economic and cultural center, Carpenter feels that both the rich history and booming development of the city are the epitome of China's growth. He is thoroughly enjoying a happy life here, sharing that "I'm just hoping that people will actually come here and see how great of a city it is."
