Snowfall raises emergency response in Hunan

Hunan province has raised its emergency response for rain, snow and freezing temperatures from level IV to level III as heavy snow and freezing rain has affected most parts of the province.

The province's emergency response headquarters for low temperature, freezing rain and snow has asked local authorities to strengthen monitoring and patrolling for emergencies, maintain traffic order, and ensure energy supply to minimize property loss and ensure people's safety.

Sixteen counties in Hunan province have recorded snowfall of more than five centimeters, with the maximum reported in Shimen county of 15 cm, according to Hunan Meteorological Center.
