The China-Laos Railway: A new story of joint contribution and shared benefits
The China-Laos Railway is an electrified railway that connects Kunming in Yunnan, China, with Vientiane, the capital of Laos. As a flagship project for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the China-Laos Railway has become a major railway artery linking China with the Indo-China Peninsula and the Indian Ocean region.
Since its opening two years ago, the China-Laos Railway has transported a total of 25.07 million passengers and 30.1 million tons of goods.
Zhao Mingyan, a Laotian employee of Yunnan International China-Laos Power Investment Co, has participated in the external power supply project for the Laos section of the China-Laos Railway. She said that the China-Laos Railway not only promoted trade and cultural exchange between the two countries, but also deepened friendship between the two peoples.
The China-Laos Railway is not just a path of development and prosperity, but also a path of friendship. It witnesses the collective efforts and common dreams of the people of China and Laos, and composes a new story of joint contribution and shared benefits under the Belt and Road Initiative.
