The Inaugural Conference of the World Political Party Think Tanks Cooperation Association and the Academic Seminar on World Political Party Politics was held in Beijing on Thursday.

Themed "World Political Party Politics amid Changes unseen in a Century", the seminar discussed good governance, the responsibility of political parties, and new trends in the development of world party politics.

The event was co-hosted by the World Political Parties Institute of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Beijing Foreign Studies University.

More than 180 participants attended the seminar, including political party think tank scholars, communist party theoretical cadres from more than 40 countries such as Tanzania, South Africa, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Chile, the United Kingdom and France, as well as representatives from Chinese universities and think tanks.

Chen Zhou, vice-minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said during the seminar that the establishment of the World Political Party Think Tanks Cooperation Association aims to create an open, inclusive and mutually beneficial platform for cooperation among world political parties. It aims to pool wisdom and resources for the development of various countries and enhance mutual understanding, trust and capacity-building among political parties worldwide.

"The rapid evolution of global changes in the past century, escalating geopolitical conflicts, insufficient momentum in global economic growth, and emerging challenges such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and space polar regions are pressing," Chen said, adding that political party think tanks, as the ideological source and advisers for political parties, should explore paths for parties and maintain peace and stability locally and globally.

Participants agreed that the association will serve as a vital platform for advancing ideological dialogue and policy communication among political parties worldwide. They committed to leveraging these think tanks to foster party cooperation, facilitate mutual progress and enhance governance capabilities for the betterment of people across nations.

Palamagamba John Kabudi, former foreign minister of Tanzania said the think tank association will help similar political parties learn from each other, grow together, and build trust. It will boost the governing skills of parties involved.

Nader Chowdhury, joint general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal of Bangladesh said the mechanism will effectively help formulate new policies, political theories, as well as new global political outlooks.

"By working together through platforms such as the World Political Party Think Tanks Cooperation Mechanism, we can pool our wisdom and forge synergies for the common good," said Fouzia Amin, assistant professor in strategic studies at National Defense University of Pakistan.

"The CPC's experiences and initiatives provide valuable lessons in achieving good governance, promoting development, and ensuring social harmony," she said.
