Since Peru joined the "Belt and Road" initiative in 2019, practical cooperation between Peru and China in infrastructure and economic and trade fields has significantly increased. Carlos Aquino, director of the Asia Studies Center and professor of economics at the National University of San Marcos in Peru, recently mentioned in an interview with China Daily that port and power projects are the two major highlights of recent cooperation between China and Peru.

Aquino pointed out that the Chancay Port, located north of Lima, the capital of Peru and invested by Chinese enterprises, is about to be completed. This port will become the most modern port in Latin America and the South Pacific region, serving as a crucial hub connecting to Asia.

In addition, Chinese enterprises have made significant investments in Peru's power and communication industries. These infrastructure investments and collaborations can help Peru and even the entire Latin American region achieve more efficient flow of goods and people, injecting vitality into regional economic growth.
