From London to Cambridge, Glasgow to Edinburgh, acclaimed Chinese author Mai Jia reflects on the challenges of Chinese literature going global, but he remains hopeful: "The world wants to understand China. They'll need to read Chinese literature – a lot of it."

To young people, he says: "Be brave. Go out and stumble if you have to."
