"Recently a large marine protected area was established in the Mediterranean part of the Finike Seamounts area, where any kind of fishing is banned in the coastal and high sea part of the region," Bayram Ozturk, president of Turkish Marine Research Foundation, said in an interview with Hook and Net Magazine. He said this could be seen as important to protect vulnerable and endangered species in the Mediterranean.
