Wu Jun, executive director of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) handed over the 50,000 yuan ($7,648) donation on behalf of BFA Secretariat and its member companies to Ren Hao, deputy director of external liaison department, Red Cross Society of China.

"We are here to express our sincere sympathy to the victims of the deadly disasters which struck Japan earlier this month and brought great loses of human life and property. Zeng Peiyan, vice-chairman of BFA board of directors, and Zhou Wenzhong, secretary general of BFA, have respectively written to Yasuo Fukuda, chairman of the BFA board of directors and former prime minister of Japan, expressing their concerns over the situation. We hope we could do our best to help those affected people overcome the current difficulties and go back to normal life", Wu said at the handover ceremony.
Ren Hao expressed his deep appreciation on behalf the Red Cross Society of China to BFA Secretariat and its member companies which provided the donation. He said that the fund will be quickly transferred to their counterpart, the Japanese Red Cross Society, for rehabilitation in the disaster-affected areas.
Kotaro Katsuki, counsellor of economic section at Embassy of Japan to China, witnessed the handover, and expressed his great thanks on behalf of his government and people to BFA Secretariat for its generous support, and to China Red Cross for all its efforts.
This donation is part of the BFA Charity Fund which came from contribution of its member companies and BFA Secretariat Staff. It donated 50,000 yuan to New Zealand earthquake-hid areas last month. The BFA Secretariat also donated for Zhouqu mudslide hit areas in Gansu province, Pakistan flood areas, Hainan flood-hit areas last year. Same help also went to several Hope Schools in Guizhou province, earthquake areas in Wenchuan of Sichuan province, as well as to a community construction project in the Philippines in early years.
