ThyssenKrupp is one of the world's biggest technology groups. More than 184,000 employees worldwide work in the Group's main areas of steel, capital goods and services, realizing
sales of more than 42 billion Euro in fiscal 2004/2005.

Alongside product manufacturing, the group is increasingly concentrating on system solutions and innovative services in the five segments Steel, Stainless, Technologies, Elevator and Services.

China is ThyssenKrupp's most important market in Asia. Currently the company employs more than 3,800 people in China. The Group's sales to customers in China amounted to 1.1 billion Euro in fiscal year 2004/2005. From steel mills to elevators, steering columns to corrosion protection, the group has a wide spectrum of activities in China. One prominent example is the construction of the world's first Transrapid line in Shanghai. The Transrapid began commercial operations at the beginning of 2004 and travels the 30 km stretch connecting Pudong International Airport with Longyang Road.
