Youngster dies while mum plays with pals

A 2-year-old boy drowned at home while his mother was playing mah-jong in Qiongshan, Hainan Province, on Sunday.

The tragedy took place in the afternoon when Chen invited three friends to play mah-jong, leaving the son to play on his own.

After she had not heard her son's voice for quite some time, she looked in the kitchen and found he had his head in a bucket of water.

The youngster was rushed to hospital, but died on the way.
