A 3.4-metre-long boa from a zoo in Yibing of Sichuan Province was badly injured last week while fighting a 2.6-metre-long adult crocodile that lived next to him.

The battle broke out as the boa broke into the crocodile's cage one night. Zoo-keepers stopped them and rushed the wounded boa to a local pet hospital, where over 40 cuts found on the big snake were sewn up.

To avoid a repeat, zoo-keepers had to move the cages of the two animals, both protected species, away from each other.
