A forest park in Fuzhou of Fujian Province is to host a seed-cracking contest between local residents and some parrots during the National Day holidays.

The park was inspired to organize the contest as some of its parrots often impressed visitors with their ability to crack over 70 melon seeds in one minute.

According to the contest rules, the first 30 of 90 participants who finish cracking 500 grams of melon seeds at a preliminary contest will qualify for the final, which will be held on October 1. Nine contestants could win several hundred yuan in cash and park tickets as reward.

The organizer promised that any contestant who surpasses the birds could win extra prizes.
