A golden palace that opened to tourists in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region this week has become a new tourist attraction.

More than 2,500 people have been visiting the golden palace each day.

Construction of the golden palace, which covers an area of more than 700 square metres, required more than 2.5 tons of pure gold and cost more than HK$500 million (US$64.2 million).

The luxury palace, including a bedroom, kitchen, toilet and small garden, charges HK$200,000 (US$25,740) to hold a wedding ceremony there. Its ordinary admission fee is HK$25 (US$3.21) per person.

Most of the household goods in the palace are made of gold.
