A young man suspected of having a fetish for women's shoes was arrested on Monday in Macao's Northern District over the attempted theft of a young woman's footwear.

The 27-year-old suspect, Wong, was caught red-handed by the young woman's boyfriend as he tried to snatch a pair of her shoes from outside the front door with a bamboo pole.

The man subdued Wong and alerted police, who arrived on the scene shortly after.

The shoes were estimated to be worth just 30 Macao patacas (less than US$4). The case is now in the hands of the public prosecutor.
