A court in Beijing's Shijingshan District fined a young English teacher 2,000 yuan ($246) last Thursday for stealing five corsets, apparently to get back at a shop manager who had disparaged her figure.

The story started last November, when the teacher, surnamed Lei, went to a beauty shop for body shaping.

The shop's manager allegedly teased Lei, saying that she would never find a husband because her figure was so poor.

To retaliate, Lei stole the corsets, each worth 1,600 yuan ($197), that had been on display in the shop.

Police arrested her soon after and charged her for larceny.
