BEIJING  -- A book on Tibet's history and modern life was put on the shelves of China's bookshops on Monday.

The Chinese-language book, "A True Tibet", is a "concise and vivid" account of Tibet past and present, the publisher, the People's Press, said.

The book tells how Tibet became a part of the big family of China, and how it has been in the Chinese territory since the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368 A.D.), the publisher said, adding that it also detailed the tremendous progress since liberation.
