China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) announced Monday that crude oil output at its Daqing Oilfield, China's largest, has cumulatively exceeded two billion tonnes as of 8 pm on March 22, accounting for 40 percent of the nation's onshore production.

The figure means that the oil field has provided an average of 1.5 tonnes for every Chinese citizen, said the state oil giant.

Daqing, with 40.2 million tonnes of crude oil pumped out in 2008, aims to maintain its crude oil output at 40 million tonnes per year until 2020.

Natural gas output in the field, run by CNPC, reached 2.76 billion cubic meters in 2008.
