NEW YORK - China Center, a New York-based Chinese firm, said it has donated 100,000 dollars through the Stiller Foundation to help speed Haiti's recovery from the recent earthquake.
According to a press release obtained by Xinhua on Friday, the donation was raised by employees and executives of China Center and its parent company, Beijing Vantone both in China and New York. China Center represents Vantone Foundation in donating the money for Haiti rescue efforts.
China Center deeply understands the human grief of disasters, says the press release. The company lived through the painful struggle to rebuild New York City's World Trade Center, and dared the world to pledge investment into the One World Trade Center while it was but a pile of ruins.
China Center shares the pain of Haitian children, and pledges once again to help rebuild, according to the press release. Feng Lun, Chairman of China Center, a long time educator and humanitarian pioneer, understands the fundamental significance of investing in children through education.
Feng Lun and Ben Stiller,an American comedian, actor, writer, film director and producer, share a common goal to help the Haitian children to get back on their feet by providing them a safe haven: school. Feng is cited as saying that "Vantone Foundation from China is donating through China Center New York to help rebuild Haiti schools that are destroyed by the earthquake. We want to help the children get back to school as soon as possible as they struggle through this difficult period."
China Center is focused on providing education to those children who are most likely to be left behind. The joint efforts by the Stiller Foundation and its on-the-ground partners, Save the Children and Architecture for Humanity, look to sustainably invest in the long-term recovery of Haitian communities through the education of their children.
Beijing Vantone is a leading developer in China and a publicly listed company. Vantone and China Center share the belief in green construction with Architecture for Humanity, which will oversee the construction of low-cost but high-quality schools in Haiti in partnership with Stiller. Vantone will also offer its development expertise as a part of the Haitian School Initiative.
"I would like to thank the China Center and Beijing Vantone for their generous contribution," Stiller is cited as saying. "Haiti's schools were devastated in the earthquake. The primary focus of the Stiller Foundation and the Haitian School Initiative will be the building of schools for Haiti's children, and we will benefit from Beijing Vantone's construction expertise in the months ahead. "
China Center is an affiliate of Beijing Vantone. It's an industry leader in business service targeting Chinese and U.S. multinational companies.
