WASHINGTON - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Tuesday that the Obama administration is devoted to a positive, cooperative and comprehensive US-China relationship.
The United States was ready to make joint efforts with China to promote bilateral cooperation in various areas, Clinton said.
The top diplomat said she was looking forward to visiting China this summer to hold the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue with her Chinese counterpart and attending the World Expo in Shanghai.
Zhang said he would make unremitting efforts to promote a sound and steady development of the China-US ties during his term. He also stated China's principles and positions on China-US relations.
US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and Jeff Bader, Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the White House's National Security Council, also met Zhang respectively.
Zhang arrived in Washington on Sunday.
