More than 8 billion yuan of the donations from more than 45.5 million CPC members nationwide was given to Sichuan Province, Fu Sihe, a senior official of the CPC Central Committee Organization Department, said at a news conference.

Gansu Province received 1 billion yuan, Shaanxi Province 500 million, Yunnan Province 100 million and Chongqing city 100 million, Fu said.

So far 1.365 million houses have been built, and 37 of the 91 planned primary and middle schools had been established. The rest would be finished by October, Fu said.

He said 2,667 of the 11,726 planned activity centers had been established, and the others would be finished this year, Fu said.

About 1.65 million yuan was given to relatives of 55 people who died for the quake relief work.

Fu said the funds usage was strictly supervised by the organization department and the public.

He said 76,000 people applied to join the Party while working at the forefront of quake rescue and relief in the five months after the quake, and 19,000 were accepted.
