HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM - Vice Chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Zhizhen on Sunday called on Asian countries to rethink its enhanced role in the world economy.
"The international financial crisis has brought big changes to the world political and economic landscape," said Wang. It is of positive influence to explore new development strategy in the post- crisis period and rethink Asia's role, she added.
Wang said regional cooperation in Asia have been developing in a deepened and innovative manner over the past years. Asian countries should also discuss outlook for further integration at this historical point.
Wang said China is an active member of Asian cooperation. China will continue to support regional integration in Asia and contribute to the harmony and prosperity in the region.
The World Economic Forum on East Asia is an annual event. The forum drew more than 400 leading government leaders and officials, leading scholars and entrepreneurs from over 50 countries and regions this year.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Lao Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh, Myanmar Prime Minister U Thein Sein, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and World Economic Forum Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab attended the forum.
