Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Liu Jianchao paid a visit to the hospital Tuesday afternoon. The mother of the 18-year-old told Liu his son "is still very scared" after the incident, but said she "had to strengthen herself" in such a crisis.
Another victim, a 46-year old male, was undergoing surgery due to broken wrists. Meanwhile, a 67-year-old woman was suffering from "inhalation distress" due to the tear gas used by the police during the assault on the hostage-taker.
"I expect the less severe two patients to be discharged in a couple of days," hospital director Attorney Dilar Almira told Xinhua. "The one in ICU, I expect him to be able to discharge from the hospital in one or two weeks."
