CHONGQING - A senior publicity officer of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality was sentenced to 11 years in jail on Monday for taking bribes, a local court said Tuesday.
The No 3 Intermediate People's Court of Chongqing handed down the sentence to Liu Jianchun, former vice director of the Publicity Office of Chongqing, for taking bribes worth 1.01 millon yuan ($151,300).

The court said Liu was given a relatively light sentence because he had confessed his crimes and turned in all the bribe money.
Liu was detained during a mass corruption crackdown campaign in Chongqing, which has seen the conviction of a number of high-profile figures including government officials, lawmakers and gang members.
